Cheniere Receives Non-FTA Export Permit for Corpus Christi LNG Expansion
The DOE has granted Cheniere Energy a non-FTA export authorization for a two-train expansion at its Corpus Christi LNG terminal in Texas, totaling 3.28 million metric tons per annum. This expansion allows exports to countries without a free trade agreement with the U.S. The project is set to operate until 2050, increasing the terminal's total export capacity to 4.45 Bcf/d, making it the second-largest LNG export project in the U.S.

The U.S. Department of Energy authorized Cheniere Energy to expand its Corpus Christi LNG terminal in Texas with a non-FTA export permit for two new trains, 8 and 9, totaling 3.28 million metric tons per annum.
The permit allows exports to non-FTA countries until 2050. The combined export capacity of the terminal is now 4.45 Bcf/d, positioning it as the second-largest LNG export project in the U.S. Cheniere's mid-scale trains 8 and 9 are adjacent to an under-construction Stage 3 Project, which includes seven mid-scale trains with a total capacity over 10 MMtpa, with substantial completion of trains 1-4 achieved by the end of 2025.
