Cheongju University will elevate its Aviation and Defense Departments to an independent College of Aviation and Defense effective March 1, 2026. This transition aims to bolster talent development in response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and support regional growth.

The university has established several specialized programs and departments since 2011, culminating in a comprehensive approach to aviation education. A remodeling project costing 20 billion KRW is set to finish by August 2026, creating advanced facilities for the new college. The institution seeks to integrate military and aviation education to enhance national defense capabilities.
