China Advances Nantianmen Aerospace Plan with Luaniao Helicarrier and Hypersonic Fighters

DEFENSE

China is advancing its Nantianmen aerospace weapons system, reported by *Lijian* on December 10. Proposed by China Aerospace Industry Corporation in 2017, the Nantianmen plan integrates air defense with next-generation fighters and unmanned aerial vehicles.

The Luaniao, a 242-meter long helicarrier with a wingspan of 684 meters and a maximum takeoff weight of 120,000 tons, will carry up to 88 unmanned space fighters named Xuanü, which can utilize hypersonic missiles. Recent defense exhibitions showcased models from the Nantianmen plan, including the Baidi unmanned stealth aircraft and the Zihuo vertical takeoff and landing fighter, which is equipped with AI technology and can reach speeds of 800 km/h. These developments suggest that the Luaniao is now in a concrete development phase.
