China Advances Underwater Drone and Aircraft Carrier Programs Amid U.S. Naval Challenges
China is developing the largest underwater drones, XXLUUVs, measuring 148 feet with a 10,000-mile range. Concurrently, the U.S. Navy faces significant delays in aircraft carrier and submarine production, impacting its operational readiness.

China is testing underwater drones, the XXLUUVs, at 45 meters (148 feet) long, capable of reaching the U.S. coast with a range of 10,000 nautical miles. These drones are designed to enhance China's naval capabilities in the Pacific, potentially threatening U.S. ports.
Concurrently, the U.S. Navy struggles with production delays, with the USS Doris Miller pushed to 2034 and the aging USS Nimitz remaining in service past its planned retirement. The U.S. is projected to build only 1.2 submarines annually against a requirement of two, exacerbating its operational shortfalls. This trajectory highlights a concerning shift in naval power dynamics, as China's rapid advancements may challenge U.S. dominance.
