China and France Sign Joint Statement on Climate and Environmental Cooperation

FUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER

China and France have signed a joint statement during French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to China from Dec 3 to 5, emphasizing cooperation on climate and environmental challenges. The partnership addresses climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and resource scarcity, committing to accelerate renewable energy deployment and support developing nations financially.

Both countries aim to implement existing climate pledges, reaffirming their dedication to the 2025 joint statement and various international agreements, including the Paris Agreement and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. They plan to triple nuclear power generation by 2050 and support the International Maritime Organization's net-zero shipping emissions strategy.

Both nations also seek to reverse forest loss by 2030, enhance water resource management, and promote marine protection. They aim to create a legally binding instrument to combat plastic pollution and improve financing access for developing countries' green transitions.
