China Issues New Sanctions Against US Entities Amid Ongoing US-China Trade Tensions

On December 26, 2025, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced sanctions targeting US companies and individuals involved in military sales to Taiwan under the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law (AFSL). This followed the US Department of State's authorization of arms sales to Taiwan.
Since 2020, China has established three sanction lists, with 39 entities added to the AFSL in 2025, a significant decrease from 113 in 2024. The Unverified Entity List (UEL) saw 76 entities added in 2025, compared to only three the previous year.
