China Launches 500,000-Ton Green Alcohol Oil Project in Shenyang
China has initiated its first wind-solar-hydrogen-biomass green alcohol oil project, targeting an annual capacity of 500,000 tons. This development aims to enhance carbon utilization and reduce emissions, contributing to a sustainable energy landscape.

Construction has begun on a 500,000-ton green alcohol oil demonstration project in Kangping County, Shenyang, China, integrating wind and solar energy with biomass gasification. The innovative system utilizes intelligent scheduling to convert intermittent renewable energy sources into stable liquid fuel, achieving carbon utilization rates above 95% and reducing emissions by approximately 60% compared to traditional coal-to-methanol processes.
Once operational, the project aims to meet the increasing demands of global shipping and aviation while fostering green industrial advances in Northeast China. Achieving economies of scale above 300,000 tons annually may enhance cost competitiveness.
