China Launches High-Volume Humanoid Robot Production Facility

A factory in Guangdong, developed by Leju Robotics and Dongfang Precision Science & Technology, commenced operations in March 2026, producing humanoid robots at a rate of one every 30 minutes, resulting in an annual output of 10,000 units. This marks a departure from previous prototyping approaches, moving towards industrial mass production.

The production process incorporates 24 assembly phases and 77 quality checkpoints, ensuring high standards. While this advancement highlights the growing integration of humanoid robots into industrial processes, experts caution that challenges remain, particularly in dexterity and physical manipulation skills. The shift to mass production could lower costs and broaden applications, intensifying global competition in robotics.
