NATURAL GAS
China Merchants Group's subsidiary, Changhang Freight (Zhoushan), has contracted two LNG-powered bulk carriers from Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry. Each vessel will measure around 20,000 dwt and is designed for Grade A navigation areas of the Yangtze River, facilitating operations between inland waterways and coastal routes. The ships will be equipped with two 2,000-kW main engines and an LNG propulsion system, which is projected to decrease carbon dioxide emissions by more than 20% compared to conventional fuel oil, aligning with China's efforts to decarbonize shipping along the Yangtze corridor.
