China Unveils Swarm Drones Enabling Single Soldier Control of 200 Units
The People's Liberation Army of China has introduced advanced swarm drone technology that enables a single soldier to control over 200 drones, including the High Mobility Swarm Weapon System, which can launch 48 fixed-wing drones simultaneously. These drones utilize intelligent algorithms for autonomous operation and enhanced cooperative capabilities, allowing for complex multi-mission tasks such as reconnaissance and strikes. This development follows earlier showcases at air shows and is complemented by China's first drone carrier amphibious assault ship, which began sea trials in late 2025.

Each drone features intelligent algorithms for autonomous negotiation, enhancing cooperative capabilities and anti-jamming functions to maintain operational integrity despite potential electronic warfare disruptions. The PLA first showcased this technology at the 2021 Zhuhai air show, with advancements leading to the Swarm II system in 2024, which supports multi-mission operations including reconnaissance and strikes. Additionally, China's first drone carrier amphibious assault ship began sea trials in late 2025, extending the operational range for drone deployments.
