China's 15th Five-Year Plan Targets 109 Major Engineering Projects
China's 15th Five-Year Plan outlines 109 engineering projects to strengthen its economic foundation, following 102 completed in the previous plan. The focus on energy infrastructure aims to enhance green development and meet carbon goals.

The 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) introduces 109 major engineering projects across six domains to bolster China's economic foundation. Seven key projects are dedicated to a new energy system, including hydropower bases, offshore wind power facilities, and natural gas pipelines.
Construction is ongoing nationwide, notably at the Lianghekou pumped-storage power station, the largest of its kind, which is nearing completion of critical concrete works. Meanwhile, the Gansu Tengger Desert Hexi New Energy Base is advancing a major photovoltaic initiative integrating sand control technologies. By 2030, nonfossil energy is expected to represent 25% of total consumption, while the West-to-East Power Transmission capacity will surpass 420 million kW, indicating a significant shift towards renewable energy.
