China's First Nuclear Power Project with Private Investment Connects to Grid in Zhejiang

The No. 1 generation unit of China's first nuclear power project incorporating private investment was connected to the power grid in Zhejiang. The CGN Zhejiang San'ao project includes a 2% stake from Geely Technology Group in its first phase.

The second phase aims for a 10% private investment. The power station, located in Cangnan County, will feature six Hualong One units, supplying over 54 billion kWh of clean electricity annually, meeting the needs of about 5.4 million people, and reducing coal consumption by over 16 million tonnes and carbon dioxide emissions by 50 million tonnes. Currently, Zhejiang has over 100 gigawatts of clean energy capacity.
