China's Guovang Satellite Network Aims for 13,000 Satellites by 2035 to Transform Global Connectivity
China's Guovang satellite network aims to revolutionize global connectivity by launching 13,000 satellites into low Earth orbit by 2035. This initiative, led by China SatNet, focuses on national digital sovereignty and reducing dependency on foreign technologies.
The project plans to deploy 1,300 satellites by 2029 and 6,500 by 2035, enhancing internet access in rural areas while providing low latency and high data transmission. The first successful launch occurred between December 24-29, 2024, from Hainan Island using a Long March-12 rocket.
Guovang's integrated ecosystem is designed to operate with user-centric routing and to address local connectivity challenges, while also complying with international frequency rights and orbital regulations. The initiative positions China as a key player in the global digital economy and aims to create new business models in both defense and civil sectors.
