Chinese Solar Firms Increase Prices as Silver Costs Rise and Tax Rebates End
Chinese solar manufacturers are raising prices for overseas buyers due to a surge in silver costs and the cessation of export tax rebates. Trina Solar increased prices by 3.5-3.66%, while Longi Green Energy doubled its price to 0.06 yuan per watt. The Chinese government's termination of a 9% export VAT rebate, effective April 1, is expected to further elevate prices and potentially consolidate the solar industry.

Chinese solar manufacturers are increasing prices for overseas buyers in response to rising silver costs and the removal of export tax rebates. Trina Solar raised its prices by 3.5-3.66%, while Longi Green Energy doubled its price to 0.06 yuan per watt.
Silver prices have surged over 48%, impacting solar panel production costs. China exported 206 gigawatts of photovoltaic modules in early 2025, a 10% increase year-on-year. The Chinese government announced the termination of a 9% export VAT rebate effective April 1, aimed at reducing market competition. Analysts expect this may lead to higher prices and the consolidation of China's solar industry.
