Chinese Startup Sustain Space Tests Flexible Robotic Arm for Orbital Refueling with Yuxing-3 Satellite
Chinese aerospace startup Sustain Space has successfully tested a flexible robotic arm in orbit, enhancing orbital refueling technology. The Yuxing-3 06 satellite, launched on March 16, demonstrated complex operations including autonomous and ground-controlled refueling simulations. Developed by Tsinghua University's Shenzhen International Graduate School, the robotic arm features a flexible design for precise docking at high altitudes. This test marks a significant advancement for China's commercial space sector.

Sustain Space, a Chinese aerospace startup, has demonstrated a flexible robotic arm's operation in orbit, marking progress in orbital refueling technology. The Yuxing-3 06 satellite, launched on March 16 from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, completed multiple in-orbit operations, including various refueling simulations.
The robotic arm, developed by Tsinghua University's Shenzhen International Graduate School, features a flexible design that allows it to adapt to confined spaces. This advancement supports on-orbit servicing capabilities, crucial for spacecraft repair and maintenance. Previous experiments in this field were conducted with the Shijian-25 satellite in January 2025.
