City of Milton to Complete Natural Gas Line Replacement by January 2027
The City of Milton is undertaking a natural gas line replacement project to replace aging lines, some over 80 years old, funded by a $10 million grant applied for in 2022. Initially, only partial replacements were planned; however, cost savings through tax-free materials and efficient project management have enabled the city to replace all aging lines with more durable materials.
The project, which started last year, is set for completion by January 2027. Current work is progressing on Elmira Street, Canal Street, and MLK Jr. Drive, with additional work scheduled for Saratoga Street, Lexington Street, and Yaupon Drive in the coming 60 days. The project will help reduce repair focus and accommodate residents' requests for natural gas service.
