Civilian Flights to Launch from Udhampur Airport in 6-7 Months, Announced by Minister Jitendra Singh
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh announced that civilian flights will commence from Udhampur Airport within 6-7 months, using an interim terminal at the Air Force Station. The initiative, aimed at enhancing air connectivity in the Chenab region, will involve acquiring additional land for a full-fledged airport, expected to be completed in three years, and is part of broader efforts to improve transportation links, including the development of Udhampur Railway Station as an Amrit Railway Station.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh announced that civilian flights will begin from Udhampur Airport within 6-7 months, utilizing an interim terminal at the Air Force Station. A high-level meeting reviewed the project, emphasizing close coordination between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to expedite operations.
Plans include acquiring 28 acres of adjacent land for a full-fledged airport, projected for completion in about three years. The initiative aims to enhance air connectivity in the Chenab region, benefiting four districts and boosting socio-economic activity.
The Udhampur Railway Station is also being developed as an Amrit Railway Station to improve transportation links. Key officials from relevant departments attended the meeting to ensure timely execution of the project.
