Civilian Flights to Start from Udhampur Air Force Station in 6-7 Months, Says Dr. Jitendra Singh
Dr. Jitendra Singh announced that civilian flights will commence from Udhampur Air Force Station within 6-7 months, facilitated by ongoing coordination between the Indian Air Force and the Airports Authority of India. This initiative aims to boost air connectivity in the Chenab region, benefiting four districts, while also enhancing Udhampur's status as a major transportation hub. Plans for additional land acquisition to support a full-fledged airport are also underway, alongside similar projects in Kishtwar under the UDAAN scheme.

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Science & Technology, announced that civilian flights will begin from Udhampur with an interim terminal at the Air Force Station within 6-7 months. Coordination between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is ongoing to expedite operations.
Singh emphasized the government's focus on the Chenab region's development since 2014, aiming to enhance air connectivity to benefit four districts. He noted that Udhampur is becoming a major connectivity hub, offering air, rail, and road options, including the development of Udhampur Railway Station as an Amrit Railway Station.
Similar connectivity initiatives are planned for Kishtwar under the UDAAN scheme. A proposal for additional land acquisition is being pursued to support the establishment of a full-fledged airport.
