Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced a historic investment of 131 billion pesos in Guaymas Port, supported by private initiatives. Key projects include a liquefaction plant for exporting gas to Asia and a pipeline expansion by Cenagas from Naco to Guaymas, aimed at enhancing local economic development and energy infrastructure.

The liquefaction plant, projected to begin operations in 2028, will also facilitate natural gas distribution to southern Mexico, potentially reducing costs by 30%. Additional investments include a multi-use terminal and modernization efforts at Grupo México's facilities.

The projects align with the Plan Sonora for sustainable energy and aim to position Guaymas as a strategic logistics hub. The initiative also includes the establishment of the Sonoran Artificial Reef System to enhance marine biodiversity.
