Claudia Sheinbaum Inaugurates Major Infrastructure Projects in Baja California and Sonora
Presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum inaugurated significant infrastructure projects in Baja California and Sonora, highlighting a private investment of 130 billion pesos for the expansion of the Puerto de Guaymas, set to begin in Q1 2025. Key project inaugurations included the first phase of the Tijuana Elevated Viaduct, the Maritime Traffic Control Center in Ensenada, and the Bavispe-Nuevo Casas Grandes highway, which improves connectivity between Sonora and Chihuahua.
The modernization of the Puerto de Guaymas will enhance its capabilities for vehicles and containers, supporting Grupo México and Lázaro Cárdenas. Future projects include a LNG terminal and a multi-use container terminal, with investments of $6.8 billion USD and 424.8 million pesos respectively. Additional infrastructure developments aim to optimize mineral handling and reduce natural gas costs for Sonorans by 30%.
