Cohere Partners with TKMS for Canadian Submarine Fleet Bid
Cohere has partnered with ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) to develop AI applications for the Canadian navy's submarine procurement, valued at $60 billion. The collaboration aims to integrate Canadian companies into TKMS's supply chain while enhancing decision-making and training for naval operations. The first submarine deliveries are anticipated by 2032, with each vessel potentially costing up to $2 billion.

Cohere and ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) will collaborate on AI applications for the Canadian navy's submarine procurement, which could be worth $60 billion. TKMS is competing against South Korea's Hanwha Ocean to supply up to 12 patrol submarines.
The partnership aims to integrate Canadian companies into TKMS's supply chain, fulfilling Ottawa's requirements for industrial benefits. Cohere's AI technology will assist in decision-making and training for naval operations.
The Canadian government has requested production pledges from both bidders for the automotive sector. The first submarine deliveries are expected by 2032 from Hanwha and potentially earlier from TKMS. Each submarine could cost up to $2 billion, with a total life cycle cost estimated at $10 billion per vessel.
