Colorado Springs Outdoor Pool Maintenance Issues Lead to Closures
Colorado Springs has temporarily closed Monument Valley Pool for repairs on a circulation pump, causing water quality issues. The city, which operates two outdoor pools, is facing ongoing maintenance challenges impacting public access to swimming facilities.

Monument Valley Pool in Colorado Springs is currently closed due to a failed circulation pump, with replacement parts expected within two weeks. The city has two outdoor swimming pools, and a partnership with the YMCA has been in place since 2016 to support operations.
This summer, the Wilson Ranch Pool experienced intermittent closures due to mechanical problems, including a leak that required three days to fix. Since the closure of Portal Pool in 2020, demand for public swimming facilities has increased, prompting officials to conduct a geotechnical study later this year to assess its potential reopening. Ongoing maintenance and operational planning are essential for public pools, as noted by city officials.
