Colossal Biosciences Partners with UAE to Create BioVault for Endangered Species Preservation
Colossal Biosciences has partnered with the UAE to establish a BioVault in Dubai for the cryogenic preservation of tissue samples from 100 endangered species, as part of a new World Preservation Lab. The initiative, which aims to safeguard over one million samples and combat impending extinctions, is supported by a $60 billion investment from the UAE, contributing to Colossal's total funding of $615 million. The project, utilizing advanced technology, is designed to address the urgent need for biodiversity preservation.

Colossal Biosciences has announced a partnership with the UAE to develop a BioVault in Dubai, aimed at storing cryogenically frozen tissue samples from 100 vulnerable species. The facility will be constructed as part of a new World Preservation Lab and will utilize advanced robotics and artificial intelligence for sample management.
The selection of species will be guided by conservation authorities, including the IUCN. Colossal plans to preserve over one million samples from more than 10,000 species, providing a genetic resource to combat the potential extinction of nearly half of all species by 2050.
This initiative is backed by significant funding, including a $60 billion investment from the UAE, pushing Colossal's total funding to $615 million. The project is likened to a modern-day Noah's Ark, emphasizing the urgency of biodiversity preservation.
