Colquemayo Project Advances Environmental Review for Drilling in Peru
The Colquemayo copper-gold-silver project in Moquegua, Peru, has submitted its Environmental Impact Declaration (DIA) for approval, a crucial step toward diamond drilling. The project is set to establish 40 drill platforms and execute 59 boreholes, with an initial investment of $6 million planned for 5,000 meters of drilling.

The Colquemayo exploration project, managed by Aurora Copper Perú SAC, is progressing through environmental review with the submission of its DIA to Peruvian authorities. Initial agreements have been established with local communities in Amata and Palcamayo for environmental monitoring.
The DIA outlines plans for 40 drill platforms and 59 boreholes, alongside camp installation. Informative workshops were conducted in May 2025 to engage local stakeholders. The initial drilling campaign aims for 5,000 meters, potentially increasing to 15,000 meters depending on results, with a projected investment of $6 million. This project could enhance local economic activity but may face scrutiny regarding environmental impacts.
