Columbia Gas of Virginia to Invest in Infrastructure and Environmental Projects in Tidewater Region

NATURAL GAS

In 2026, Columbia Gas of Virginia will enhance its services in the Tidewater region, focusing on safe natural gas delivery to 290,000 customers, energy management programs, and environmental stewardship. Infrastructure upgrades are planned, including improvements in Chesapeake along Weiss Lane and a relocation of gas lines in Smithfield to support local beautification efforts.

These initiatives are part of the Steps to Advance Virginia's Energy (SAVE) Plan, approved by the Virginia State Corporation Commission. In 2024, Columbia Gas participated in a community clean-up with the Elizabeth River Project, removing 175 pounds of trash. The project also received a 2025 Environmental Action Grant to support local environmental initiatives.
