Columbia Secures Grant for Gas Line Expansion to Boost Local Economy
Columbia has received an Economic Development Grant for a gas line expansion, enhancing natural gas capacity for local businesses. This project aims to support new jobs and economic growth in the region.
The City of Columbia has been granted funding for a gas line expansion along North KY-61, enhancing natural gas capacity from a two-inch line to six-inch lines. Currently, 84 customers utilize this section, and new connections are being accepted during the project.
The expansion will facilitate J&L Gate's new powder coating operation, projected to create approximately 20 full-time jobs. This initiative follows other economic development projects in the area, including a previous gas line project that enabled a new Don Franklin Dealership and created 30 jobs. Collaboration with local organizations and government representatives has been crucial for this development.
