Major General King was appointed CEO of Lockheed Martin Australia and New Zealand in January 2023, prompting concerns about potential conflicts of interest due to his previous role in Defence overseeing aviation systems and contracts. Greens Senator Shoebridge questioned the rapid transition, highlighting a $2.8 billion contract for Black Hawk helicopters from Lockheed Martin. Lt Gen Stuart clarified that King was not involved in the Army aviation planning for that acquisition and that conflict of interest policies were adhered to, including King's recusal from relevant projects for 12 months.
