Construction of RM500 Million Pulau Jerejak Bridge to Commence Next Month
Construction of a RM500 million bridge linking Penang Island to Pulau Jerejak is set to commence next month, with completion expected in 2029. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity and attract investments in Penang's technology sector.

Road widening works for the RM500 million bridge connecting Penang Island to Pulau Jerejak will start next month, with projected completion in March 2029. The construction includes a 1 km elevated bridge featuring four lanes, pedestrian, and cycling lanes.
The project aims to provide direct road access to Pulau Jerejak, which currently relies on boat services. This development is part of a larger plan to redevelop a 32-hectare site on the island into a financial center and resort area, designed to attract investors to Penang's technology and semiconductor sectors. The project will be managed with considerations for local heritage and environmental protections.
