Contra Drone Develops Electronic Warfare Solutions for Kyiv Amid UAV Threats
Contra Drone, co-founded by Tymofii Yurkov, is developing Ukrainian-made electronic warfare (EW) systems to counter UAV threats over Kyiv, with an estimated cost of $300-400 million to fully secure the skies. Following issues with existing EW systems, Yurkov's team designed antennas that doubled the effectiveness of deployed systems. The company focuses on modular counter-drone solutions, emphasizing the importance of jamming GNSS and mesh networks to enhance air defense capabilities.

Contra Drone, co-founded by Tymofii Yurkov, is developing electronic warfare (EW) systems specifically for countering UAV threats over Kyiv. Following ineffective EW systems previously supplied to military units, the company created new antennas that significantly improved operational effectiveness.
The estimated cost to completely secure Kyiv's airspace is between $300-400 million, requiring thousands of EW systems. These systems aim to disrupt GNSS and mesh networks used by drones, enhancing air defense and potentially saving lives. Despite challenges in funding and logistics, Contra Drone continues to innovate and refine its products based on military feedback.
