Conversion Plans for Historic Barn in Ribble Valley Estate to Office Space
The Downham Estate in Ribble Valley seeks to convert the Aisled Barn into office space and a conference room, enhancing regional economic activity. This initiative aims to revitalize a historic building while preserving its architectural integrity.

The Assheton family has proposed converting the Grade II-listed Aisled Barn into office space and a conference room for land agents Ingham and Yorke. The project includes refurbishing the barn with open-plan offices using glass partitions, retaining original features like oak trusses and stone flooring.
Plans also encompass a former cart shed for storage and meeting rooms, alongside a wood pellet boiler for heating. Ground-mounted solar panels are planned for renewable energy, and the farmyard will be resurfaced for parking. This scheme aims to revitalize a largely unused building, supporting local employment and land management skills while minimizing alterations to the historic structure.
