Cook Inlet LNG Advances Offshore LNG Import Project for Southcentral Alaska Energy Security
Cook Inlet LNG LLC announced plans for an offshore liquefied natural gas import project to enhance energy security in Southcentral Alaska. Utilizing a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) and existing platform infrastructure, the project aims to supply 22 billion cubic feet of natural gas annually.
Developed as a bridge project, it will address immediate gas demand while longer-term solutions are pursued. Cook Inlet LNG, a subsidiary of Gardes Holdings Inc., is partnering with Glacier Oil & Gas Corp.
The FSRU will be moored at the Osprey platform, with only mooring anchors requiring new infrastructure. The project will undergo regulatory approvals from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the U.S.
Coast Guard. Gas supply costs will be regulated by the Regulatory Commission of Alaska.
