Coquitlam Issues RFP for House Removal to Expand Cottonwood Park

NATURAL GAS

Coquitlam is seeking a contractor to remove a 4,000-square foot house on Cottonwood Avenue as part of its park expansion project. The Request for Proposals (RFP) was issued to find a contractor for either demolition or relocation of the house, with the contract to be awarded in February 2026.

The city prefers relocation unless deemed unfeasible. The house, built in the 1990s, includes features like a natural gas fireplace and a double garage. The contractor will take ownership of the house 'as-is' and is responsible for utility disconnection, foundation removal, and clearing trees.

To qualify, contractors must have relocated or demolished three houses in the past five years. The expansion will increase Cottonwood Park from 5.15 acres to 11.5 acres, adding new trails and sports courts.
