Corpus Christi City Council Approves CCGAS Underground Gas Storage Project
The Corpus Christi City Council has approved real estate agreements for the CCGAS Underground Natural Gas Storage facility. This project aims to enhance gas affordability, stabilize rates, and support long-term energy solutions.

The Corpus Christi City Council has authorized real estate agreements for the CCGAS Underground Natural Gas Storage facility, covering approximately 3,021 acres. This infrastructure project is designed for a lifespan exceeding 30 years, enabling CCGAS to store natural gas when prices are low and withdraw during high price periods.
It aims to ensure customer savings, stabilize rates against seasonal fluctuations, and contribute to long-term growth. Following a two-year feasibility study, the Agua Dulce Hub was selected as the facility's location, marking the first underground gas storage operation in South Texas.
The project will soon progress to permitting, design, and construction phases. This development may enhance energy stability but poses risks related to regulatory processes and potential environmental concerns.
