Costco Partners with Trinity Energy to Install Microgrid in Norwalk
Costco plans a microgrid installation at its Norwalk tire center, set to deliver 2 MWh daily from solar energy by 2025. This initiative aligns with the company's sustainability goals and enhances energy independence.

In partnership with Trinity Energy, Costco will implement a microgrid system at its Norwalk tire center, capable of providing 2 megawatt hours of power daily by 2025. This system will enable the building to operate independently from the existing grid, generating and storing clean energy on-site.
Following a 2024 Planning and Zoning Commission approval with specific conditions, including exploring solar energy options, Costco settled a legal appeal against these requirements. The microgrid initiative supports Costco's commitment to sustainability and addresses the increasing energy demands that traditional infrastructure cannot meet.
