COTECMAR Delivers Indigenous Ocean Patrol Vessel ARC 24 de Julio to Colombian Navy
COTECMAR delivered the Ocean Patrol Vessel ARC 24 de Julio to the Colombian Navy on January 31 at Naval Base ARC Bolívar in Cartagena. The 93-meter vessel, launched in July 2025, is the largest warship designed and built entirely in Colombia, resulting from a decade-long collaboration with the Navy.
It displaces approximately 2,000 tons and is intended for maritime security operations, including patrol and search and rescue missions. Construction began in March 2023 and created 1,114 direct jobs. The project emphasizes domestic design capabilities as Colombia seeks to modernize its fleet under the PF2030 planning document. COTECMAR aims to expand its role in the regional OPV market, joining Brazil and Chile as Latin American nations capable of indigenous warship design and construction.
