Cowboy Space Secures $275 Million Investment at $2 Billion Valuation
Cowboy Space has received $275 million in Series B funding, elevating its valuation to over $2 billion. This investment will accelerate the development of satellite networks for AI computing in low Earth orbit and support the company's goal of creating a space-based data center infrastructure.
Cowboy Space, founded in 2024, has achieved a valuation exceeding $2 billion following a $275 million Series B investment led by Index Ventures. Other investors include IVP, Blossom Capital, SAIC, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Construct Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, NEA, Interlagos, and founder Baiju Bhat.
The company aims to establish AI computing capabilities in space by developing a solar-powered satellite constellation in low Earth orbit. This initiative seeks to overcome energy and cooling limitations of traditional data centers.
Cowboy Space plans to create a dedicated launch system and rocket infrastructure, along with specialized computing hardware for AI models to operate directly in space. Additionally, the company is testing power beaming technology for data transfer between space and Earth and is collaborating with NVIDIA on the deployment of NVIDIA Space-1 Vera Rubin modules.
