Crusoe and Tallgrass Approved for $50 Billion AI Energy Campus in Wyoming

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURENATURAL GAS

Laramie County commissioners approved a multibillion-dollar project near Terry Ranch Road, comprising Crusoe Energy Systems' Project Jade AI data center campus and Tallgrass's BFC Power and Cheyenne Power Hub, totaling over $50 billion in capital expenditure. The development includes 2.7 gigawatts of natural gas power generation.

Despite concerns from local residents regarding water contamination and landscape changes, the project aims to employ a closed-loop cooling system to protect local water resources. The energy infrastructure represents a $7 billion investment and is designed to be self-sufficient, minimizing strain on municipal utilities.

Construction is set to employ 5,000 workers at its peak, with the first buildings expected to be operational by Q2 2027. State officials have framed the project as critical to national security and competitiveness in AI.
