Côte d'Ivoire President Ouattara Appoints Téné Birahima Ouattara as Vice Prime Minister in Cabinet Reshuffle
Côte d'Ivoire President Alassane Ouattara has appointed his brother, Téné Birahima Ouattara, as vice prime minister in a cabinet reshuffle announced on January 23, 2026. Téné Birahima Ouattara retains his role as defense minister.
The new government consists of 34 ministers, including a deputy prime minister, and saw the entry of five new officials while four ministers departed. Key new appointments include Yacouba Hien Sié as Minister of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance, Djibril Ouattara as Minister of Digital Transition and Technological Innovation, and Abou Bamba as Minister of Environment and Ecological Transition.
The reshuffle retains all six women from the previous cabinet, with some reassigned. The cabinet changes follow Ouattara's re-election in October and his party's legislative victory in December. The first cabinet meeting is scheduled for Saturday at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan.
