Cyprus and EU Nations Accelerate Arms Production Amid Ukraine Conflict

DEFENSE

Cyprus has become a significant player in arms production, with over 200 H-10 Poseidon drones aiding Ukrainian artillery. Swarmly, the manufacturer, has accumulated over 100,000 flight hours in three years.

The company's 5,000-square-meter factory also produces marine drones for clients including Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. The war in Ukraine has prompted EU countries to enhance their defense capabilities, with Cyprus receiving 1.2 billion euros in loans under the EU's Security Action for Europe program.

In addition to Cyprus, Baltic nations and Denmark are advancing their drone technology. Greece recently showcased its homemade drones during NATO exercises. The EU's push for self-reliance in defense has led to increased investment and the development of military technologies across member states.
