Cyprus President Christodoulides Addresses Pension Reform, Water Management, and Energy Projects
Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides convened meetings to discuss key issues including pension reform, water management, and energy initiatives. The discussions highlighted efforts to improve pension adequacy, address the water crisis through desalination and recycled water usage, and update on the LNG terminal's progress to reduce energy costs. Additionally, plans for a ministerial visit to the UAE were outlined to strengthen cooperation on energy and water projects.

President Nikos Christodoulides held meetings at the Presidential Palace on January 14, focusing on pension reform, water management, and energy issues. The discussions on pension reform included updates from the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance and the Minister of Finance, emphasizing objectives to enhance pension adequacy and fund sustainability.
In addressing the water crisis caused by severe drought, the Minister of Agriculture provided updates on desalination efforts, recycled water usage, and demand management measures. Energy discussions involved the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, who informed the President about the LNG terminal's progress in Vassiliko and plans to reduce energy costs. Additionally, the upcoming visit of government ministers to the United Arab Emirates was discussed, aimed at enhancing cooperation on energy and water projects.
