Czech Republic Deploys UH-1Y Venom Helicopters to Poland for NATO Drone Defense
The Czech Republic has deployed UH-1Y Venom helicopters to Poland to enhance NATO air defenses against drone threats near Ukraine. This marks the first overseas mission for these helicopters, which are part of a bilateral defense agreement. The deployment includes two helicopters and support staff, trained in counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) tactics. The mission responds to increased drone incursions into Polish airspace, particularly following incidents linked to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Czech UH-1Y Venom helicopters have been deployed to Poland to support NATO's air defenses against drone incursions near Ukraine. This deployment is part of a scheduled rotation and includes two helicopters along with technical support staff.
The Czech Ministry of Defence indicates that this mission is authorized under a bilateral defense agreement. Czech crews have trained intensively in C-UAS tactics and were certified in February. The Venom helicopters can carry troops and are equipped to engage low-altitude threats.
The deployment aims to address the increasing drone threat following violations of Polish airspace by Russian drones. This operation enhances NATO's collective defense capabilities in the region.
