Czech Republic's Gas Imports Rise 25% in 2024, Driven by Eemshaven LNG Terminal
In 2024, the Czech Republic's net natural gas imports rose by 25% to 6.78 billion cubic meters, driven by increased shipments from the Eemshaven LNG terminal in the Netherlands. The terminal, operational since September 2022, supplied 72 LNG shipments totaling 6.44 billion cubic meters, entirely free of Russian gas. ČEZ has secured capacity at Eemshaven until 2027 and is pursuing contracts at a new terminal in Stade, Germany.

In 2024, the Czech Republic's net import of natural gas for domestic use increased by 25% to 6.78 billion cubic meters. Overall imports exceeded 8 billion cubic meters, marking a 39% rise, with gas sourced exclusively from Norway and LNG terminals in Northwestern Europe.
The Eemshaven terminal in the Netherlands, operational since September 2022, received 72 LNG shipments totaling 6.44 billion cubic meters, sufficient for annual Czech consumption, with no Russian gas included. The terminal processes up to 8 billion cubic meters of gas annually, reserving up to 3 billion for the Czech market. In 2025, 28 ships delivered 2.48 billion cubic meters of gas, equating to over a third of the Czech Republic's annual consumption. ČEZ has leased capacity at Eemshaven until 2027 and is also securing additional contracts at a new terminal in Stade, Germany.
