DAC Approves Rs 3.60 Lakh Crore Defence Acquisition Proposals for Indian Armed Forces
The Defence Acquisition Council, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved capital acquisitions worth Rs 3.60 lakh crore to bolster the combat readiness of the Indian Armed Forces. Key approvals include Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft (MRFA) for the Indian Air Force, anti-tank mines and vehicle platform overhauls for the Army, and P-8I aircraft for the Navy, along with power generators for self-reliance. The Indian Coast Guard will enhance its surveillance capabilities with new systems for its Dornier aircraft.

The Defence Acquisition Council, under Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved Rs 3.60 lakh crore in defence proposals. For the Indian Air Force, it includes Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft (MRFA), Combat Missiles, and High-Altitude Pseudo-Satellite.
The MRFA aims to improve air dominance and long-range strikes, with most units to be manufactured in India. The Army will acquire Anti-Tank Mines (Vibhav) and upgrade vehicle platforms to extend service life.
The Navy's approvals include 4 MW Marine Gas Turbines and P-8I aircraft to enhance anti-submarine and surveillance capabilities. The Indian Coast Guard will procure an Electro-Optical/Infra-Red system for its Dornier aircraft to boost maritime surveillance.
