Danaos Corporation Expands Dry Bulk Fleet with Two Newcastlemax Newbuilds
Danaos Corporation is enhancing its dry bulk capabilities by ordering two Newcastlemax newbuildings from Chinese shipyards, scheduled for delivery in 2028. This expansion increases its Newcastlemax fleet to four vessels, totaling around $297.3 million.
The company has previously acquired 11 capesize bulkers since 2023. Known primarily for its containership operations, Danaos currently owns 75 boxships and has an active newbuild orderbook of 27 vessels.
Since 2022, the company has ordered 35 container vessels valued at $2.7 billion, with eight already delivered. The diversification strategy includes a strategic investment in the Alaska LNG project and plans for LNG carrier newbuilds.
