This initiative is a response to advancements in integrated air defense networks in countries like Russia and China, which have reduced the effectiveness of U.S. long-range strike capabilities. DARPA emphasizes a 'Design for Manufacturing and Assembly' approach to ensure the missile's cost-effective mass production from the outset. A technical briefing is scheduled for September in Arlington, Virginia, to discuss details with industry partners.
