The PON market for data centers is set to grow at 52% CAGR from 2026 to 2030, driven by hyperscalers and enterprises adopting cost-effective passive fiber distribution. Ciena's DCOM solution has contributed to an 88% revenue increase in its Routing and Switching segment, with new orders from multiple hyperscaler customers.
Nokia's PON-based OOBM platform is designed to enhance operational efficiency and reduce active switch requirements significantly, although it has not yet announced specific customers. In parallel, Dell'Oro highlights the increasing deployment of Passive Optical LAN (POL) in enterprises due to its lower operational costs. FTTR technology is also gaining traction globally, particularly in China, which leads in deploying fiber-to-the-room solutions.
