Daystar Power Expands Solar Capacity to 14.7 MW in Nigeria
Daystar Power increases its solar portfolio to 14.7 MW in Nigeria to meet industrial demand for reliable energy solutions. This expansion highlights the shift towards decentralized solar energy as a key strategy for industries facing high diesel costs and grid limitations.

Daystar Power has expanded its solar capacity in Nigeria to 14.7 MW, driven by increasing demand from industries for reliable energy solutions. A newly operational 2.632 MW solar plant in Agbara powers GZ Industries' aluminum can manufacturing facility.
This project also includes a battery energy storage system (BESS) exceeding 1.5 MWh to enhance energy management. Daystar, a subsidiary of Shell, is also developing a 5.2 MW solar plant in Côte d'Ivoire and has installed a 4.3 MW system in Ghana, indicating a regional expansion while maintaining a strong focus on Nigeria. The shift towards decentralized solar energy is critical for industries to stabilize production and manage operational costs, especially amid fluctuating diesel prices and unreliable grid supply.
