Dayton, Ohio, Prepares for Electric Air Taxi Manufacturing with Joby Aviation
Dayton, Ohio, is set to continue its aviation legacy by becoming a hub for electric air taxi production with Joby Aviation's new facility. This initiative reflects a significant shift towards advanced aerial mobility as the U.S. approaches its 250th anniversary.

Joby Aviation Inc. plans to establish a 700,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Dayton, Ohio, to mass-produce electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOLs) starting in 2027. The facility aims to produce four aircraft per month and aligns with the city's historical significance in aviation, dating back to the Wright brothers' first airplane factory in 1910.
Joby aims to demonstrate operational readiness through a nationwide flight series, showcasing its electric air taxi capabilities. The expansion underlines Dayton's long-standing role in aviation innovation and technology, supported by the presence of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the National Museum of the United States Air Force. This development may position the region as a leader in the next generation of air transportation, potentially influencing future transportation infrastructure and public acceptance of eVTOL technology.
