DCMA Implements Safety Management System to Enhance Workforce Protection
DCMA has launched a Safety Management System (SMS) to reinforce safety protocols and accountability across operations. This initiative aims to increase workforce engagement and improve risk management, aligning safety with operational performance.

The Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) is implementing a Safety Management System (SMS) to enhance its safety culture, with a goal of informing over 50% of its workforce by FY 2026 and 100% by FY 2027. The SMS is designed to integrate safety protocols into daily operations, ensuring leadership commitment and employee involvement in risk reduction efforts.
Key components include thorough worksite analysis, hazard prevention, and comprehensive training. The phased implementation includes a baseline assessment of existing safety programs, followed by audits and continuous improvement initiatives. This approach fosters a culture of accountability and reinforces the importance of safety as a fundamental aspect of mission execution.
