Defense Metals Advances Wicheeda Project with Infrastructure Developments
Defense Metals is transitioning to the final feasibility study phase for the Wicheeda project, focusing on key technical and financial milestones. The project benefits from political support and aims to secure conditional funding for infrastructure enhancements.

Defense Metals is preparing to move from the pre-feasibility study to the definitive feasibility study (DFS) for its Wicheeda project in British Columbia. A significant development is the construction of a 60-kilometer power line to supply up to 35 megawatts from BC Hydro to the mine site, crucial for project execution.
Publication of Q1 2026 results is expected by the end of April, offering insights into operational cash flow and technical study progress. The company is also working on agreements for engineering contracts and a pilot plant.
Support from the Critical Minerals Office as an 'Advanced Project Initiative' could expedite permitting processes. The market for rare earths is influenced by strategies to shift supply chains outside of China, with NdPr prices currently at approximately $128.75 per kilogram, reinforcing the project's economic viability. The transformation of conditional infrastructure funding into fixed capital remains a risk factor, alongside outcomes from flotation pilot tests.
